The seminary students at the Pohnpei Island Central School or PICS received much-needed air conditioning units. The room would get very hot and uncomfortable for the students and teachers, making it hard to concentrate on what is being taught. Angel, a young woman, and seminary student said: “It was so hot before we got the air conditioner. We only had a fan. We’re used to being hot here, but this makes it so much nicer.” They were all very grateful and wrote a thank-you card expressing their appreciation. President Fredivic Nicerio, Seminary and Institute director for the Micronesia area, donated a small television as well. Bill Davis, welfare and self-reliance manager for Micronesia, and Elder Allan and Sister Dana McMakin visited the seminary room. They observed other needs for the classroom. Before leaving Pohnpei, the seminary room was given couches, a bigger television for everyone to see, a rice cooker, and a microwave. (The only release time for seminary is during the student’s lunch hour. The microwave will make it possible for them to heat up their food and eat while also having a lesson. The smaller TV was placed in the room with the couches so it can be used as a lounge area.) The seminary room is a great place to come and not only study the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also a place to gather with other members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It’s a place to learn and feel the Spirit. A place where testimonies can blossom.
