For expectant mothers who have nowhere to turn, Safe Haven is an answer to prayers. Operating in Guam since 2018, Safe Haven has been a vital resource for mothers of newborns and for expectant mothers with no support system and limited life experience.

Under the stewardship of Ramona McManus, president and director of Safe Haven Pregnancy Center, these mothers can find information on nutrition, mentoring in parenting skills, and counseling on continuing education.

The goal of Safe Haven is to help each mother become self-reliant through education. In an effort to support this cause, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated computer equipment, as well as an upgraded annual subscription to on-line learning tools through Hope Sync and Bright Course. McManus reported, “we have substantially increased our logged minutes of lessons viewed from 1705 minutes in January, before the upgrade, to over 3000 minutes in March, after the upgrade.”

In addition to the technology equipment, the Church also donated a riding lawnmower and a bushwhacker for property maintenance.

“We appreciate the invaluable work that organizations like Safe Haven do in our communities,” said Sister Brenda Brooksby, a Humanitarian missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “We want to be an example of Christ-like service and to share the love of the Lord here in Guam.”

Safe Haven provides emergency and residential care in addition to the training and counseling. All of this would not be possible without generous donations from the community. If you are interested in donating, contact them at: director@safehavenguam.org
