Perhaps the most powerful way to provide families with the strength to endure life’s inevitable storms and trials is through the sacred covenants and sealing ordinances available to faithful members in the House of the Lord.
Recently, after making the journey to Guam with their family, On January 9, 2025, Brother Radson and Sister Merlyn Mauricio knelt together at an altar in the Yigo Guam Temple and were sealed together for time and eternity, surrounded by their 5 children, Kemiko (21), Kemiva (17), Logan (12), Jasmine (9), and K.More (5).
The family are members of the Kitti Branch of the Pohnpei Stake. Brother Mauricio serves as 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency, and Sister Mauricio as the Relief Society President.
“I cannot express the joy I felt,” said Sister Mauricio.
“I felt peace and love,” said 9-year-old Jasmine, while her brother, Logan, simply smiled and said it made him “very happy.”
In particular, the entire family felt the joy of knowing that they were sealed as a family. Brother Mauricio in particular expressed joy and belief that regardless of what happens on this earth, they will be together again in the next life.
The family’s journey to the temple began about 9 years ago when, after studying with the missionaries, the Mauricios joined the Church in Kitti. Since that time, they have all grown in the gospel while serving in the Kitti Branch.
Their oldest daughter, Kemiko, recently returned from serving a full-time mission in Hawaii. “While serving on my mission I had the opportunity to teach about the temple and eternal families, and I even witnessed families going to the temple to be sealed and the joy they felt,” she explained. “I wanted that for my family. So I felt great comfort and joy when I learned that my own family would come to the Yigo Guam Temple to be sealed.”
The Mauricio family returned to Pohnpei with a strong commitment to continue serving each other and the people of Pohnpei and finding joy in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
