The after effects of Typhoon Mawar brings opportunities to serve

There is still much work to be done on the island of Guam from the results of the storm

Super Typhoon Mawar struck Guam on May 24, 2023.  Clean-up is still taking place daily to homes, businesses, roads, and beaches.  Many people still do not have water or power.  Missionaries and members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are serving and assisting wherever they can to help.  They can be found repairing roofs, cleaning up yards, and church buildings.   They are “anxiously engaged in a good work”.

The bishops in the wards and branch on Guam have been busy setting up cleaning crews.  Some family homes were severly damaged and needed help repairing their roofs.  Other families had a lot of damage to their yards.  Large trees have been uprooted and other plants have been leveled.  The service given so freely is greatly appreciated.  Sister Clara Paolino said, "Friday we did three service projects, but yesterday we were only able to do two!"  The heat and high humidity make it difficult to work for long hours in the sun.  The junior missionaries are working hard to help in the clean-up process of people on the island and doing it with love.  Not only do they work hard, but they also bring joy wherever they serve.
