How the Islands Experience April General Conference

Guam, Palau, Micronesia and the CNMI #Hear Him

“I plead with you to do all you can to end personal conflicts that are currently raging in your hearts and in your lives. I love the Lord Jesus Christ and testify that His gospel is the only enduring solution for peace. His gospel is a gospel of peace.” ~ President Russell M. Nelson

Moses taught God’s word “… shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distill as the dew. …” (Deuteronomy 32:2)

From the continent of Asia to the pacific islands, members and friends in the Asia North area heard the words of the Prophet, Apostles, and other Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' leaders during the 192nd semiannual General Conference broadcast April 2022, reaching to the isles of the sea in a variety of ways.

Every six months the Church's General Conference broadcast expands its reach further to remote locations, giving opportunity for more people to 'Hear Him.'

Throughout the Asia North Area, General Conference was watched and heard in a variety of ways. Families gathered in their homes near their televisions to hear the Prophet and other church leaders. Babies and toddlers were held by parents or siblings, families, and couples cuddled on sofas, children participated in other quiet activities such as coloring sitting or lying on the floor while feeling the loving bonds of their family. Others met in their chapels and stake centers where conference was being streamed. Members, friends, and missionary companionships watched on their cellphones, tablets, PC's and laptops via the Church's website and YouTube channels in their respective languages. This conference, the Saturday evening session was held as a general session focused on women.

One sister shares her sentiments, “General Conference is always great for me. Although my little ones can feel a bit overwhelming, I take the opportunity of listening to a good conference talk via YouTube. It's great to have family over and we share what we like about the conference.” ~ Raynna Oveny, Saipan

Guam and Palau’s friendly relations with media-broadcasting stations has proven helpful to expand the Conference coverage by adding additional sessions to be viewed. Members in the island of Pohnpei met in their chapels where General Conference was being streamed. Be it in a home, in a car, or outside under shade trees, 'His words' were heard by many countries. The Church continues to find creative ways to share hope, comfort, and counsel through technology and social media.

Another sister in the islands expressed her feelings of conference in this way, "This was me a month ago, 'determined to find something bleak and dismal in everything.' This conference, Elder Holland had my number. I need to keep singing that song of eternal salvation. Just like the Prophet said, 'Get on the covenant path and stay on it.' " ~ Mel Ozu, Palau

Our Prophet teaches, “We need daily experiences worshipping the Lord and studying His Gospel. I Plead with you to let God prevail in your life. Give Him a fair share of your time. As you do, notice what happens to your positive spiritual momentum. “~ Russell M. Nelson
