Brother Koichi Ishizaka and Sister Harumi Ishizaka recently gathered their children and grandchildren to attend the temple and to learn more about their ancestors in the Family History Discovery Room, located on the 2nd floor of the temple annex. The Ishizakas, who served as missionaries at the Sapporo Temple, have spent many years researching and preparing names for their grandchildren to perform vicarious baptisms for their ancestors.

The grandchildren joined with other youth from the Sakado Ward (Tokyo Stake) for the baptismal session. Of the experience, one grandchild expressed, “When I was baptized for my own ancestor, I could not stop the excitement of having more spirits to help me in my life.” Along with the baptisms, one granddaughter, Airi Yoshida, was able to receive her own endowments.

Following their time in the temple, the family enjoyed spending time together in the Discovery Room, adding pictures to “Memories” on their own Family Search accounts, hearing stories about their ancestors, and enjoying a family dinner. The Ishizaka’s grandchildren learned more about their grandpa’s mother, Grandma Moyohii. They loved hearing stories about her talents and interests, and especially her conversion story. They were surprised and amused that their Grandma Ishizaka remembered more about Moyo-san than their grandpa, her son, did. Several grandchildren shared that Grandpa Ishizaka’s stories were fun, interesting, and humorous. Many happy memories were created.

The Family History Discovery Room is available for other families to gather for family reunions. Members and friends are welcome to come and explore the many opportunities to get involved.

Please come to the Family History Discovery Room on the second floor of the Tokyo Temple Annex.
