Relief society sisters from the Barrigada Stake gathered at the Barrigada Stake Center on Saturday, November 23rd, for their annual Super Saturday event. The sisters enjoyed each other's company and created craft items which are sure to brighten homes with the Spirit of Christmas during the upcoming holiday season.

“My hope was that the sisters could have this time to do something for themselves and just enjoy the company of their sisters in Christ,” said Stake Relief Society President Marita Gogue. “As women, we tend to get really buy caring for children, spouses, parents, and others,” she continued. “We wanted the Super Saturday event to be a time for the sisters to gather and do something fun and relaxing. Crafting can be therapeutic.”

Among the craft items produced was beautiful  3-D framed caricature of the Yigo Temple, a simple but elegant nativity to remember the true reason for celebrating Christmas, and a lighted, holiday-themed display in a glass jar with holiday items such as Christmas trees, snowmen, snow, and cottages.

“The evening was a wonderful opportunity to get together with sisters from the whole stake and visit and get to know them better,” said Sister Debby Shakespeare, a senior military relations missionary serving on Guam. “The activity was so well planned that everyone was able to feel welcomed, be creative and come away with some beautiful Christmas decorations as well as an increased feeling of sisterhood.”

The activity was a great way to start out the holidays by feeling joy, love and centering our thoughts on Christ.

The Barrigada Stake Relief Society Presidency wishes everyone a wonderful Christ-centered holiday season!
